Where Canada stands and the way forward

The study gives an overview of the digital economy in Canada and the workforce that supports it. The digital economy refers to the knowledge-based economy which relies primarily on intellectual capabilities, reducing reliance on natural resource and physical inputs and supported by hyper-connected technologies and innovation. The report looks at the needs of the workforce to be able to respond quickly to continuing innovations in technology and training. The report covers the digital economy as a concept, employees and skills, both in demand and supply, and how to best address the training, development, and upskilling of the workforce. Finally, the report makes recommendations for policies designed to support this knowledge economy.
