DescriptionContent

The cost and financing structure of European companies differ across countries and industry lines. Costs for employees, goods sold and consumables as well as profitability and indebtedness are examples. To make well informed decisions it is of importance to know those differences and understand the drivers behind it.

However, it can prove cumbersome to gather comparable information about industries and economies. This Statista DossierPlus aims to close this gap. Based on aggregated income statements, balance sheets and financial ratios, Statista generated an economy-wide assessment of key performance indicators (KPIs) in five European economies.

The analysis of the benchmark is based on aggregated income statement and balance sheet data. Moreover, the data is representative for the distribution of companies in the countries considered. It covers the majority of turnover made in the respective economies and is based on all industries, excluding financial andinsurance companies, public administration and activities of households. The outcome allows to look at the development of European economies based on national generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) from 2005 until 2019 in five European key countries: Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and Poland.
