Mobile money in Africa

This report takes a look at mobile money in Africa, a service that has undergone rapid growth in recent years. Largely managed by telecommunications companies and networks of licensed agents, mobile money allows users to deposit funds in to a virtual wallet, that may be later used for payments and purchases, including peer-to-peer payments. Mobile money is available to those without access to a bank account, bringing financial inclusion to underbanked regions of Africa.
