Aptiv PLC - statistics & facts

Established in 1994, Aptiv PLC is a multinational automotive parts provider based in Dublin, Ireland. Aptiv PLC experienced several important corporate events that include four times full or partial renaming of the company, change of corporate leaders, filing for bankruptcy, disputes with local governments, and many other hurdles. One of the most interesting is the mere fact that Aptiv PLC is the fourth renaming trial of the original company. At first, the company was named as Automotive Components Group, which got changed in 1995 to Delphi Automotive Systems. In 2008, the company filed for bankruptcy and sought many ways to come out of the financial insolvency and illiquidity. Some months later, Delphi’s main assets for operations were purchased by investors who then created a new Delphi Corporation. The old Delphi was given a new name as DPH Holdings Corporation with the remaining assets. The final renaming of the Delphi Corporation took place in 2017, during which the company name Aptiv PLC was formulated.

Business performance of Aptiv PLC

Although Aptiv PLC went through challenging business events, its revenue increased from 2017 to 2022, reaching around 17.5 billion U.S. dollars in 2022. Despite the fact that Aptiv PLC invested a lot into the research and development strategy in order to become an innovator in the market, the net profit of Aptiv PLC has been experiencing a declining trend since 2015 (with the exception of a highly profitable year 2020) . Aptiv PLC's operations are divided into two business segments. The Signal and power solutions segment provides vehicle electrical systems, connection systems, electrical centers and many additional automobile electronic architecture. The Advanced safety and user experience business segment offers mostly automobile software and sensing systems that include many differentiated electronics and safety products for vehicles. In 2022, the Signal and power solutions segment was the most profitable segment for the company, generating over 12.9 billion U.S. dollars in revenue.

Germany-based Bosch, Continental, and ZF Friedrichshafen, Japanese Denso, and Canadian Magna are the global market leader firms for automotive supplies. As the global leader for automobile parts supplier, Bosch generated around 88.2 billion euros in revenue in 2022.
