Natura &Co is one of the largest cosmetics companies in Brazil. Headquartered in São Paulo, the group operates across more than 70 countries and owns several stores and beauty brands, including The Body Shop, Aesop, and Avon International. In 2022, Natura &Co figured among the leading direct selling companies worldwide, with revenues amounting to around seven billion U.S. dollars. Natura &Co employs over 30 thousand people worldwide, the majority of which are women.

A history of successful acquisitions

In 2017, a year after acquiring the brand Aesop, Natura acquired the British brand, The Body Shop, previously belonging to L’Oréal, thus creating the Natura &Co group of companies. This is one of the most used brands among female consumers in the United Kingdom, and it has a store count of roughly 3,000 stores worldwide. A few years later, the American beauty staple Avon also became part of the company, making Natura &Co one of the largest beauty players globally. Thanks to this move and the expansion of its subsidiaries, Natura &Co experienced a notable increase in its net revenue that year. To this day, the company’s most profitable brand is Natura &Co Latin America, the sales of which come mostly from Brazil and Mexico. However, in 2023, L’Oréal announced the acquisition of one of Natura &Co's most renowned brands, Aesop, for a sum of over 2.5 billion U.S. dollars.

Leader of the Brazilian cosmetics market

The beauty industry is one of the most prominent in Brazil, as evidenced by the fact that in 2021, the cosmetics and personal care sector represented 73.4 percent of direct retail sales in the country. There is consistently a large number of cosmetics companies operating in the South American country. Among Brazil’s leading cosmetics and personal care manufacturers are Natura &Co, with a market share of over 16 percent, Unilever, and another renowned domestic company, Grupo Boticário, which is probably Natura &Co’s main competitor.
