Statistics and facts about T-Mobile US

T-Mobile US, Inc. is an American telecommunications company headquartered in Bellevue, Washington. The company has approximately 45,000 full- and part-time employees and generated revenues of around 30 billion U.S. dollars, placing it only behind AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint in the U.S. telecommunications market. The majority shareholder is German multinational telecommunications company Deutsche Telekom.

The company began in 2001 following the purchase of VoiceStream Wireless PCS by German telecommunications company Deutsche Telekom. Trading as T-Mobile USA, the company was the target of an AT&T takeover bid in 2011, but the deal fell through after rejection by U.S. regulators. In 2013, T-Mobile USA merged with MetroPCS Communications led to the company's renaming as T-Mobile US, Inc. Today the company provides wireless voice, messaging, and data services in the United States, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, under the T-Mobile, MetroPCS, and GoSmart Mobile brands.

T-Mobile currently has around 59 million subscribers, of which 27 million are postpaid customers. This places it ahead of Sprint, but still behind Verizon and AT&T. At the end of 2014, the company had an average revenue per user (ARPU) of 43.5 U.S. dollars and a postpaid churn rate of 1.73 percent.
