Heavy truck sales in the United States 2001-2021
U.S. heavy truck sales soared to around 854,000 units in 2019 before dropping to some 758,000 sales in 2020, a decrease of almost 11 percent year-over-year. in 2021, the number of sales then rose again to 842,000 units, an increase of over 11 percent from 2020. Heavy trucks have a gross vehicle weight in excess of 26,001 pounds and are often classified as Class 7 or Class 8 trucks. Freightliner and Kenworth lead the market in terms of Class 8 truck sales in the United States.
