Between 2018 and 2022, the number of tennis courts in Germany declined by around one percent. Despite this, Germany still ranked as the European country with the most tennis courts in 2022. Other high-ranking countries such as the Netherlands and Austria also experienced declines, while the number of courts in Great Britain fell by a staggering 28 percent. Meanwhile, other leading countries such as France and Spain saw slight increases in tennis courts, and Greece doubled its court numbers.

When counting both club members and recreational players, France has the largest number of tennis players among European countries by a significant margin, with around 4.7 million players in 2022. Meanwhile, Germany and Great Britain had the second and third most players, respectively. Across the Atlantic, tennis participation rates in the United States have grown in recent years, reaching over 20 million participants.
