Transportation-related GHG emissions in the EU-27 1990-2021, by selected country
Germany has consistently been the European Union's largest producer of transportation-related emissions, and in 2021 emitted 170 million metric tons of CO₂ equivalent (MtCO₂e). Although Germany is the biggest transportation-related polluter in the EU, the country reduced emissions from this sector by roughly 18 percent between 2000 and 2021. By comparison, transportation emissions in Poland more than doubled during this period.
