Share of restaurant visitors eating out alone in Japan 2021, by gender
In a survey conducted in November 2021 in Japan, about 61 percent of women who regularly ate at restaurants stated that they do not usually eat out alone, while approximately 41 percent of men who were restaurant goers answered the same. A gender discrepancy could be observed in the study, with more women eating out in groups than alone, while more men were dining out alone, rather than in groups.
