India's news leadership in 2022 was found to be predominantly male as per a survey conducted by Newslaundry with over 74 percent of editors and proprietors, in general, being men. Moreover, Hindi newspapers had the highest male representation among their leaders at more than 90 percent. In comparison, English news channels had some semblance of gender balance within their leadership although male editors were favored.
