Between 2017 and 2019, the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of Delta Air Lines have grown from 40 million to 50.5 million metric tons of CO2 equivalent. After the coronavirus epidemic, the emission levels of U.S. airlines plummeted to around 24 million mtCO2e, before regaining their momentum in the subsequent years. In 2022, Delta Air Lines emitted more than 43 million metric tons of CO2 equivalent, a 30 percent increase compared to the previous year's greenhouse gas (GHG) level of emissions.
