With 13.3 million passengers handled in 2020, Toronto Pearson International Airport was the largest and busiest Canadian airport. In that same year, the airport reported operating revenue of 823.5 million Canadian dollars. The airport was at the top of the list in terms of cargo traffic, with more than 356,000 metric tons of loaded and unloaded cargo in 2014.Vancouver International Airport ranked second, handling only 7.3 million passengers in 2020 and generating operating revenue of over 279.7 million Canadian dollars. The airport was the largest domestic airport in terms of cargo traffic in 2014, handling more than 83,000 metric tons compared to Toronto Pearson, with 72,680 metric tons.
With just under 5.7 million passengers, Calgary International Airport ranked third, followed closely by Montréal’s combined airports (Pierre-Elliot Trudeau International Airport and Mirabel International Airport), with 5.44 million passengers. In that year, Calgary International Airport reported operating expenses to the value of more than 384 million Canadian dollars and handled just a little under 85,000 metric tons of cargo in 2014.
