In 2021, the Dominican Republic reported nearly five million non-resident international air passengers, marking the beginning of the recovery from the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. In the following year, 2022, arrivals in the country by non-residents went up by 43.4 percent, surpassing seven million arrivals and exceeding pre-pandemic levels.
