Number of new disaster displacements in Benin 2008-2020
In 2020, slightly over seven thousand new disaster-related person displacements were registered in Benin, increasing from the preceding year, when the count reached five thousand. Within the reviewed period, the highest number of displacements due to naturally occurring disasters in the country was reported in 2010, at approximately 275 thousand. Flood and wildfire are some of the main displacement-causing catastrophes in Benin.
