Nomophobia among internet users and people with FOMO in Poland 2022

In 2022, seven out of 10 Poles with high FOMO (fear of missing out)* checked smartphone screen notifications at every opportunity. In the general group, the percentage of such people was 46 percent. Six out of 10 respondents with high FOMO could not imagine life without a smartphone.

FOMO is characterized by the desire to stay continually connected with what others are doing.

Nomophobia is a situational phobia caused by the unavailability of a smartphone or the thought that one does not have it, cannot use it, or can lose it (Yildirim & Correia, 2015)
