ChargePoint's total annual revenue amounted to nearly 468.1 million U.S. dollars for the fiscal year ending in January 2023, 227.1 million more than the revenue reported in 2022. As of 2023, the network charging systems segment generated over 363.6 million U.S. dollars in revenue, which was equal to 77.7 percent of the company's total earnings.
Charging stations in the United States
Electric vehicles (EVs) have become a far more appealing choice for consumers in recent years due to their actively improving range, battery life, efficiency, and affordability. Therefore, the availability of charging stations and outlets is becoming crucial. As of May 2023, the United States reported the installation of nearly 53,400 charging stations and 138,100 charging outlets for plug-in electric vehicles (EVs). California boasted the highest number of EV charging stations and outlets in the country, with an available charging infrastructure volume far above states such as New York and Florida. It is no surprise, however, that California took the lead in the number of charging stations and outlets: California was the best performing state in terms of battery-electric vehicle fleet in 2021, and the Golden State aims to fully decarbonize vehicle sales by 2030.
Charging station networks
A charging station is necessary for the recharging of EVs while en route. An EV charging network is an infrastructure system of stations which aims to provide reliable recharging over a large travel area. Currently, both in the U.S. and worldwide, government agencies, automobile manufacturers, and charging infrastructure suppliers are attempting to establish country-wide networks. As of June 2023, ChargePoint was the market leader for public charging infrastructure in the U.S., with close to 30,400 public charging stations across the country. This success, however, does not include private charging infrastructure, which remains mostly non-networked.
