Share of ransomware attacks covered by cyber insurance worldwide 2021, by industry
Most organizations globally with cyber insurance hit by ransomware attacks received a payout from their insurer in 2021, but there were differences across industries when it came to payouts for the clean-up and ransom costs. In most of the ransomware incidents, cyber insurance against ransomware covered more than 72 percent of organizations' clean-up costs - except in lower education and local/state government, where only 58 and 44 percent of organizations received a payout for these losses.
