Triennial debit card penetration in Spain 2011-2024, by demographic
According to a three-year survey, more than eight out of 10 respondents from Sweden owned a debit card in 2021, with about 74 percent actually using one. The difference between ownership and usage was roughly ten percentage points in 2021, a slight increase from a difference of eight percentage points in 2017. The report adds that men were more likely than women to own such a payment card. Gen Z - or the age group 15 to 24 years in this survey - were noticeably less likely to own a debit card than their older counterparts.
