The number of domestic arrivals in tourist accommodations in Romania peaked in 2019 at 10.69 million people. In 2020, because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the number of domestic tourist arrivals dropped by approximately 50 percent compared to the previous year, totaling only 5.88 million tourist arrivals. In 2021 there were 8.44 million and in 2022 Romania had 9.72 million domestic arrivals.
