Public and private sector buses in India FY 2001-2020
In fiscal year 2020, around 2.2 million buses were owned collectively by the public and private sector across India. It was a slight increase in comparison with the previous year. The transport sector across the south Asian country was ranked third in 2017 in terms of employment opportunities, after textiles and apparel and food processing industries.
