Throughout the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, restaurant staff across the United States had varying degrees of exposure to the virus. Between October and May of 2021, a survey was conducted to determine the share of restaurant employees in the U.S. exposed to COVID-19 by exposure level. Approximately 53 percent of respondents stated that they were within six feet of an unmasked person at least once during their shift. Meanwhile, 38 percent of respondents stated that they were within six feet of an unmasked person at least 30 or more times during their shift.
