As of 2022, at least seven U.S. states had set offshore wind capacity targets. New York had the highest capacity ambitions, with nine gigawatts to be achieved by 2035. Although with lower capacity targets, Maryland and Connecticut have the most short-term targets: each state aims to surpass one gigawatt by 2030.
