According to a survey conducted in 2023 in Italy, it was discovered that among individuals purchasing lactose-free food, 10.8 percent of male respondents reported being intolerant to lactose, while the percentage was slightly higher at 12.5 percent among female respondents. Interestingly, when it came to those buying lactose-free products despite not having any intolerance, 15.4 percent of males fell into this category, whereas the corresponding figure for females was 21.2 percent.
