Favorite restaurant types

In 2018, based on revenues, Swedes seemed to like lunch and evening restaurants best. In this year, these restaurants generated by far the highest revenue among all restaurant types, amounting to 62.8 billion Swedish kronor. Second ranked entertainment restaurants, pubs and bars, followed by fast food and take away restaurants.

Regional revenue distribution

Split by regions, the Swedish restaurant industry recorded the highest revenue in the Stockholm region. In 2018, it was roughly 49 billion Swedish kronor. Around 19 billion Swedish kronor less was the industry’s revenue in the Western region (30 billion Swedish kronor), while it was nearly 24 billion Swedish kronor in the Central region.
