C&A: number of manufacturing factories 2023, by country

German clothing retailer C&A sources its products from 36 different global suppliers. As of January 2022, Brazil hosts the highest number of supplier factories for the retail giant, with a total of 798 supplier factories. China and Bangladesh come in second and third place, with 221 and 156 factories respectively. In Germany, where the retailer is based, C&A only has four factories.

Revenue of C&A

In 2021, C&A was the seventh most successful clothing and accessories retailer worldwide as measured by revenue. In this year, C&A’s revenue amounted to 7.6 billion euros. Inditex, the retailer responsible for the Zara stores, was the most successful, generating a revenue of 27.7 billion euros. Since 2011, C&A revenues have been consistently dropping in Germany. Despite this, C&A still ranked as one of the top five retailers in Europe in 2020 in terms of the number of stores it operates across Europe.

Sustainability and transparency of C&A

Of the world's major fast fashion brands, C&A measures as one of the more sustainable by some metrics. The company ranked second when it comes to the 2020 Sustainable Cotton Ranking. In terms of carbon dioxide emissions, although C&A does not emit the lowest quantity of CO2, it does emit significantly less than retailers such as the Inditex Group responsible for the Zara brand, as well as Marks & Spencer and Asos.
