Catering chain store distribution in China 2018-2022, by city tier
In 2022, approximately a third of all chain store outlets in the foodservice industry in China were located in first-tier and new first-tier cities. The penetration rate of chain stores in the catering market in first- and new first-tier cities was higher than in lower-tier cities, but growth rates had been higher in lower-tier cities before the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
