Number of TV and VOD animation series in development worldwide in 2022, by group
As of May 2022, American groups such as Warner Bros. Discovery, Netflix, and Disney were accounting for the highest number of commissioned animation series. Warner Bros. Discovery has commissioned a total of 105 animated programs, 70 among them for linear television broadcast and 35 for their video-on-demand offering like HBO Max. Japanese groups such as Kadokawa and Hitotsubashi reached fifth and seventh position respectively, while French media groups France Télévisions and RTL were the only European platforms included in that ranking.
