Annual buy now, pay later (BNPL) spending in Mexico in 2023, with a 2029 forecast

Market modeling estimates that BNPL transactions in Mexico would be about 48 percent higher in 2024 than in 2023. This is according to a market model released in the first quarter of 2024, which placed Mexico among the earliest adopters for buy now, pay later in five countries covered for Latin America - the source put Mexico under that region instead of North America. The app of Mexican credit provider Kueski had nearly twice as many downloads in the country as the app from PayPal. Note that the source does not give further indications of what the figures provided here are based on. As buy now, pay later was unregulated in many countries across the world by early 2023, transaction figures on this payment method were scarce unless a domestic financial supervisor managed to request data from individual BNPL providers.
