Desired languages in ASR engines from 2023-2026

Cantonese remains the most desired language in automatic speech recognition (ASR) programs in 2022 and most respondents would like to see it added in the coming three years. A number of indian languages are desired, with Bahasa and Tamil being among them, though only around one-point-three percent of respondants wished for those languages. It is an interesting note that african languages have around the same desired inclusion as Icelandic, a somewhat strange number as Africa counts nearly one-point-three billion people and Icelandic has around 400 thousand speakers worldwide.
