Over 65 percent of residents in Great Britain indicated in an April 2022 survey that they usually walked for short journeys of around two kilometers or one mile, whereas 16 percent of respondents used their own car for these journeys.

The survey included a total of 20,057 respondents across Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China (mainland), France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, Spain, and the United States,Belgium, Chile, Colombia, Hungary, India, Malaysia, Mexico, Norway, the Netherlands, Peru, Poland, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Sweden, and Turkey. Around 1,000 of these respondents were from the United Kingdom.
