Consumers' criteria for environmental protection in apparel manufacture Europe 2023
There was broad agreement between consumers from France, Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom in 2023 about how a fashion item should be manufactured to protect the environment and therefore be classed as sustainable. The most popular response in three of the four countries was that a fashion product should be manufactured by a company that does not use chemicals which are toxic for the skin or the environment. The exception was the UK, where the highest share of respondents said that the company should reduce or reprocess its waste.
