Avoided deaths per year from energy-related emissions removal in the U.S., by sector
It is estimated that more than 50,000 premature deaths could be avoided annually in the United States if all energy-related emissions were eliminated. Removing air pollutant emissions released into the air by on-road vehicles prevents the most number of premature deaths, at almost 12,000. This is followed by emissions removals from residential/commercial fuel use.
