Penetration of print book consumption in the U.S. 2018-2019, by ethnicity
In 2019, 58 percent of Black Americans stated they had read at least one printed book in the previous 12 months, down from 66 percent a year earlier. Print book consumption tends to be lower among Black and Hispanic Americans than among White adults, and reading in general is less common among families on lower incomes and those who did not complete higher education.
