Annual payment card transaction number at POS terminals in the EU-27 2000-2022

The aggregate number of payment transactions at point of sale (POS) terminals with cards issued in the European Union member states from 2000 to 2019 has increased throughout this period of time. In 2019, almost 66.4 billion local card payments were made across the EU. This increase through time is similar to that of the payment transactions at POS terminals in the Eurozone countries. In 2019, there were around 36.1 billion card payments made at POS terminals in this area.
