Funded theater organizations' income in England 2020-2023, by type
The earned income of theater organizations regularly funded by Arts Council England (ACE) increased significantly in 2022/2023, following a sharp decline with the onset of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. According to an ACE analysis based on a constant sample of 170 organizations, the earned income of theaters in England amounted to roughly 303 million British pounds in the 2022/2023 fiscal year. By contrast, due to the impact of the health crisis, the earned income of such organizations only amounted to 49 million British pounds in 2020/2021. Arts Council England is the national development agency providing government and lottery funding for the arts in England.
