From 2008 to 2019, around 70 percent of those with confirmed cases of Lyme disease had erythema migrans, while 29 percent experienced arthritis. Erythema migrans is a rash that is often seen in the early stages of Lyme disease. Lyme disease is a bacterial infection transmitted by ticks to humans. It is the most commonly reported vector-borne illness in the United States.
