Leading mineral water and soft drink companies in Italy 2020, by sales revenues

In 2020, the leading companies in the sector of mineral water and soft drinks in Italy were Sanpellegrino S.p.A., Coca-Cola Hbc Italia S.r.l., and Sterilgarda Alimenti S.p.A.. According to the figures provided by Competitive Data, the revenue of the first company mentioned amounted to approximately 836 million euros during the year considered.  

 Industry overview

The mineral water and soft drinks industry experienced a growth over the past few years. The analysis of the balance sheets of a significant sample of companies active in this sector revealed that the net revenues, the production value and the earnings before taxes (EBT) steadily increased between 2016 and 2020. During the five years, the EBT grew from 141 to 167 million euros. In 2020, the net revenues and the production value of the sampled companies amounted to 2,032 and 2,141 million euros, respectively.  

 Soft drinks and mineral water consumption

Likewise, the consumption of bottled water peaked in 2017, when it reached 12,160.9 million liters. The same cannot be said for the level of consumption of soft drinks. As a matter of fact, the volume of soft drinks consumed among Italians annually decreased from roughly 3,784 million liters in 2010 to 3,019 million liters in 2019.
