VC funding to startups worldwide 2011-2020, by gender
The value of venture capital (VC) funding to startups globally fluctuated between 2011 and 2020 for both female-only founded startups and female/male cofounded startups. In 2020, startups founded by women only received around five billion U.S. dollars in VC funding, while startups with both male and female cofounders received around 20 billion U.S. dollars. In 2011, VC funding received amounted to three billion U.S. dollars for female/male cofounded companies and under one billion U.S. dollars for companies with only a female founder. Value of VC funding peaked in 2018, when both female-only founded companies and female/male cofounded companies received over 20 billion U.S. dollars in funding.
