As of July 15, 2021, Metropolitan Transportation Authority New York Revenue was the largest issuer of municipal of municipal green bonds in the United States, with an issuance amounting to 9.7 billion U.S. dollars. Far behind in second place came New York State Housing Finance Agency Revenue, with green bonds issued amounting to 2.5 billion U.S. dollars.
