In 2022, most people, 235,987, receiving inpatient care in hospitals in Germany for drug problems were doing so because of alcohol, even though often alcohol is not considered to be as dangerous or damaging as other 'harder' drugs. 24,169 were receiving treatment for problems with opioids.
