Undernourishment in Southern African countries 2004-2022
Between 2020 and 2022, Lesotho was the Southern African country with the most undernourishment in the region, measured at 46 percent of the total population. This was 35.8 percentage points more than the region's average. Its neighboring country, South Africa, showed the lowest rate in the region, with 7.9 percent. However, three countries in the sub-region had a higher rate compared to between 2004 and 2006 (except Botswana and Namibia).
