International tourist arrivals in accommodation in Budapest 2000-2022
Since 2009, international tourist arrivals had steadily risen each year, reaching around 3.9 million visitors in 2019. However, in 2020, as a consequence of the travel restrictions introduced because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the number of international visitors arriving at accommodation establishments in Budapest decreased to 722 thousand. By 2022, this figure reached an all-time high with 6.9 million visitors in 2022.
