Assets of the five largest central banks in Europe 2002-2022
Despite a slight decrease in the financial assets on the balance sheet of Deutsche Bundesbank, it remained the largest central bank in Europe, with assets worth roughly 2.9 trillion euros in 2022. Bank of France followed, with total assets worth 1.89 trillion euros. Bank of Italy ranked third, but Bank of England and Bank of Spain also reported more than one trillion euros worth of assets at the end of 2022.
