Main tourist destinations in Mexico 2020-2022, by number of occupied rooms
The Riviera Maya, located on the Caribbean coast of Mexico, was the top tourist destination for overnight visitors in the Latin American country in 2022, followed by the Mexican capital, Mexico City. That year, the capital reported over 27.5 million occupied rooms in hotels or accommodation establishments, while Riviera Maya reported roughly 35 million.
