Africans who heard of Chinese loans to their countries 2019-2021
Nearly half of African citizens (47 percent) were aware of Chinese loans or development assistance to their countries between 2019 and 2021. Kenya presented the highest share of awareness, 74 percent, followed by Mauritius with 70 percent. On the other hand, only 24 percent of respondents in Tunisia heard that China gives loans to the country. Similar shares were registered in Nigeria and Morocco, 28 percent each.
