COVAX is an international alliance sponsored by the World Health Organization, GAVI, the Vaccine Alliance, the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations, and UNICEF as a delivery partner to promote equal access to the COVID-19 vaccine around the world. In Latin America and the Caribbean, Mexico was the country with the largest allocation of immunization doses through this program, having secured more than 34.6 million doses as of August 22, 2023. Peru, in turn, received around 8.2 million COVID-19 vaccines via the COVAX initiative.
