Vehicle sales by fuel type in Canada 2021
Gasoline-powered vehicles dominate the Canadian new vehicle market. Some 1.4 million units were sold in Canada in 2021, just under 86 percent of all new vehicle registrations that year. The market share of gasoline vehicles dipped following an increase in hybrid electric and battery electric vehicles' popularity.
