Euro 2021: Instagram and Twitter followers by team

In celebration of the Euro 2020/21 competition, Statista published the Celebrity Index report. The Celebrity Index - Euro 2021 ranked all competing teams and players by their celebrity status. Metrics that are used to weight this ranking include social media following, their transfer market value as well as the sentiment and number of global online news articles that mention any player competing. The Portuguese players had the largest number of Instagram and Twitter followers of all teams competing in the Euros in 2021 - with a total of over 416 million cumulative followers.

Social media (51 percent) - average ratio of followers of the players to monthly users of Instagram and Twitter are considered, if available.

Market value (29 percent) - market value is the average market value of the players by team.

Online news coverage (20 percent) - Number of online articles & average sentiment score.
