U.S. adults on online harassment and severe harassment 2022, by identity group
A study conducted in the United States in 2022 found that 66 percent of LGBTQ+ respondents reported that they had experienced online harassment, whilst 54 percent reported severe harassment, which is defined as physical threats, stalking, sexual harassment, or doxing. Additionally, 31 percent of Asian American respondents reported experiencing severe online harassment, as did a third of Hispanic respondents.
